A sweet and silly duo, with an acoustic guitar, a double-bass, and a suitcase, Chicken-Like Birds bring their twist on sloppy blues-ragtime-folk. Jasmin and Ari will have your feet stompin’, mouths smiling and you might even feel downright decent.
Longer Bio
After a very successful 2016 spring and summer of touring with their full length album “On The Dusty Trail” and playing at festivals all over Western Canada including the Mission Folk Music Festival in BC and Fire and Water Festival in Manitoba the two are gearing up to do it all again in 2017. Along with a suitcase drum, upright bass and soaring harmonies, listeners will be treated to a tasty marriage of roots, blues, folk and ragtime that the Canadian Pacific Blues Society has called a “fantastic old- school acoustic experience.”
Chicken-Like Birds is the combination of Ari Lantela who is known for his refined sloppy blues guitar picking and Jasmin Frederickson on double bass. Together they sing their original country blues and ragtime songs about adventure, independent women, cooking and the pair’s strange relationship. Slap in some on-stage antics, a few funny stories and some strangely endearing awkwardness and you’ve got Chicken-Like Birds.
